Cavs-Stones Running Ramblings

A few running reactions to the Pistons-Cavs Game 1. I know I wrote off the NBA playoffs after the Suns-Spurs series, but the only damn reason I’m watching this game in the first place is because I can’t stand listening to Rick Sutcliffe swing from A-Rod’s testicles anymore (and the Yanks put game one of the three game set away early), and I don’t watch the Bachelor because it is a “reality” show that gives women unrealistic, choreographed ideas of romance and the dude always randomly takes his shirt off. Some on to the running ramblings…

First, anyone that argues the low scoring in this game is due to “great team defense” is full of shit. Neither team for the entire game had an offensive rhythm. If Big Z didn’t show up for the Cavs, Rip wasn’t hot early and ‘Sheed and Billups weren’t making big shots down the stretch, this game would have been in the 70s. Sad offensive basketball.

Second, speaking of Billups, he really deserves the Mr. Big Shot nickname. He is dynamite down the stretch of games, particularly in the playoffs. Now why don’t the Celtics have players like him. Damnit.

Third, as for big Z, you have to give this guy credit. He looks like one of those 40 year guys that plays at your local YMCA, ambling up the court with busted knees and the enormous bald spot, but the guy can still play. He is not going to give you 20 points a night, but can hit the 15 footer, grab you 8-9 boards a night, and is money from the stripe. I'm pretty sure I would take him over Kendrick Perkins.

Fourth, somebody please give Tayshaun Prince a protein bar. The guy plays professional basketball and looks like someone just chain locked him in a basement for three years. Seriously, it’s friggin’ disgusting.

Fifth, I think it’s about time we put that MJ-Lebron comparison to rest, shall we? Spare me the “he-is-the-only-player-on-his-team” argument. Granted, both players had to carry barren teams early on in their careers, and I know MJ never became Jordan without the supporting cast, but he also never disappreared in big games like LBJ is doing right now. Three stinkbombs already in the playoffs, and (what’s worse for Cavs fans) he is absolutely enamored with the worst part of his game – his outside shooting.

Sixth, in line with the last point, Charles Barkley was right in commenting that the Pistons aren’t taking the Cavs seriously…and you know what? They don’t need to. If this series lasts more than five games, I’ll post a picture of me on this site in a Yankees shirt. RJ will hold me to it.

Finally, I want the Pistons or the Cavs to reimburse me for having to watch this game. What a piece of shit four quarters. I’ll expect a check in the mail this week.
