This article is just plain inflammatory from an idiot sports talkshow host that moonlights as a columnist. Hank Aaron can do whatever the hell Hank Aaron wants to do. And its clear exactly what he's doing: Aaron is pissed the a 'roid junkie is going to beat a record he worked 25 years (cleanly) to beat all while putting up with hate mail, racism, death threats, etc. So instead of pretending to embrace this, he's not going to show up. And he's being classy about it by not publicly slamming Bonds for his obvious cheating. I'm not sure how much more graceful the man can be about it.

Say Aaron went on sports radio and just lambasted Bonds. Not just on the steroids, which is like shooting fish in a barrel, but on everything ranging from his attitude to how much easier players of color have it today than in the 50's and 60's when Aaron was in his prime. He could kill Bonds. Of course, the response (probably from idiots like Parker) would be that Aaron is attention seeking and his comments are simply sour grapes b/c Bonds is going to surpass him.

Putting aside for the moment that no one has actually snapped a picture of Bonds with a syringe stuck in his ass, the guy is still a world class D-bag. I wouldn't even fault Aaron for not wanting to be there for that reason.

Henry Aaron can do whatever the hell he wants. I think he's earned it.
